Section 4 of the Equality Act sets out the following as being the 9 protected characteristics:

  • Gender reassignment,
  • Marriage and civil partnership,
  • Pregnancy and maternity,
  • Race,
  • Religion or belief,
  • Sex,
  • Sexual Orientation.
